Jodhpur

Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert. The city is the second biggest in Rajasthan after Jaipur and boasts of sites dominated by the gigantic Meherangarh Fort. Jodhpur boasts of some wonderful sites that clearly illustrate the ancient charm of Rajasthan and the deadly battles among the Rajputs kings. Set-up by the Rajput chief Rao Jodha in 1459, the city gives an impression of a retreat in the infinite desert by way of a variety of prickly shrubs all over the area. A distinctive desert environment makes it completely different from the rest of the Indian cities and also gives it an arid and sizzling look.

The months of November and March receive the maximum influx of tourists who choose these months to evade the extreme hot weather. About 100 towers in the city with protective walls delight those who ever get to come to this mystique land.
